- 1 teaspoon Shao Xing wine
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon corn flour
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon Lee Kum Kee shrimp paste
Method
- Slice pork belly (0.4 - 0.5cm thick)
- Add Shao Xing wine, sugar and shrimp paste to pork belly. Stir to combine and set aside to marinate for at least an hour.
- Julienne ginger
- Cut Thai chili to 0.5cm lengths. Remove seeds if you don’t like it overly spicy.

- Arrange pork belly into an even thin layer on a steaming plate
- Scatter julienned ginger and Thai chili over it
- Cooking time:
- Panasonic Cubie: Steam setting, MEDIUM, 10 minutes
- Stove top: Bring water to boil in a pot and place a trivet / steamer rack in it. Steam pork slices over MEDIUM HIGH HEAT for 10 minutes.
- When it’s ready, serve with a bowl of steaming hot rice. A fluffy omelette and some blanched veggies will go really well with it.
Notes:
- I sometimes prep my ingredients and marinate the pork the night before if I know I will too lazy to do much cooking after a long day at the office. So it's easy to just assemble everything when I get home after work and pop it into the steamer. You can even steam it in the rice cooker as you are cooking the rice - so it's even faster! Less work and less washing up to do too! Perfect for weekday lazy bums like me!
