Chicken Steamed with Cordyceps Flowers, Red Dates & Goji Berries
This is another quick and easy Chinese steamed chicken dish to prepare. It is believed that Cordyceps flowers have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-stress and anti-fatigue properties.
This dish is SO EASY LAH! The recipe shown here feeds 1, just double up accordingly if you are cooking for more.
This is a nourishing dish that goes well with hot rice and a vegetable side dish.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Serving: 1 (increase portions accordingly if you are cooking for more)
Ingredients:
- 20g Cordyceps flowers
- 1 teaspoon (5g) Goji berries / Wolfberries
- 5 red dates (Jujube)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) Shao Xing wine
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) water
- 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon corn flour
- 1 chicken whole leg
- 1/2 teaspoon oyster sauce
Method:
- Rub oyster sauce all over the chicken leg and set aside to marinate for at least an hour
- Rinse Cordyceps flowers and then soak until softened. When the Cordyceps flowers have softened, drain and set aside
- Rinse red dates and goji berries with water. Drain and set aside.
- To make the sauce, combine corn flour, soy sauce, Shao Xing wine and water. Stir thoroughly and set aside.
- Place the marinated chicken leg on a steaming plate and scatter the Cordyceps flowers, red dates and goji berries over it. Stir the sauce mixture well and drizzle over the chicken just before steaming.
- Cooking time:
- Panasonic Cubie: Steam setting, MEDIUM, 30 minutes
- Stove top: Bring water to boil in a pot and place a trivet / steamer rack in it. Steam chicken leg over MEDIUM HIGH HEAT for 20 minutes.
- Serve with a stir-fried vegetable side dish and hot rice for a wholesome, nourishing meal
